Stars

Before you go on I want to clarify that this is a research I did at school on stars.  This is astronomy (astro +nomos:law)  and not astrology (astro +logos:words)

I do not intend to worship them or to read stuff in them. that is sin.  God is the only GOD and I worship HIM alone.  I DO NOT WORSHIP THINGS THAT HE HAD CREATED.  HE IS THE CREATOR.

All links belong to other sites. Specially University of Arizona, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory,  where all information was gathered.   Be wise in what you read and discern the content. Some links may take you to unwanted sites.

The Greek names of the planets and stars are the original names...I can not change that.  And some seem to be referred to Greek gods.  This is not our point of view or belief.  I repeat....  This is just a research on the solar system and planets.

I LOVE JESUS

  •    Stars are alive. They are born, they live, they die. Some are big, others are small, and their size effects how long they live. Some may finally die after more than 10 billion years; others survive for more than  100 million years.

  •

  • The constellations were invented, not discovered. The constellations are just distinctive and easy-to-remember patterns of stars. Most of the famous ones were invented before the beginning of recorded history. Orion, for example, has a history dating to before about 4000 BC.

  •

  • On a really dark night, you can see about 1000 to 1500 stars. Trying to tell which is which is hard. The constellations help by breaking up the sky into more manageable bits. They are used as mnemonics, or memory aids.

  •

  • All of the stars that have names (about 2-300 of them) were named between 500 and 2000+ years ago. Most of the star names in use today came from Arabic names. These days, all stars are named for their coordinates (e.g NTTS 045251+3016 is one I've worked on) by the IAU (International Astronomical Union).

  •
    • Why do stars flicker or twinkle?
    • Why do stars appear to change color?

It's due to turbulence in the atmosphere. It's just like how things look wavy when you look over a hot grill in the summer, only on a smaller scale.

  • Neutron stars are among the most extreme objects in the Universe. They are formed when a massive star dies in a "supernova explosion". During this dramatic event, the core of the star suddenly collapses under its own weight and the outer parts are violently ejected into surrounding space

This type of schematic draws the stars as different sizes to represent different brightness. In addition, there is a standard way to connect the stars that allow astronomers and others who use charts like this to quickly tell what they are looking at. In almost every star atlas, you will see Orion drawn with these same lines
