Evangelism

Some Principles for Sharing our Faith

* Be clear regarding our purpose.  The only goal that we should have at the time of evangelize is to enlarge the Kingdom of God, making available to every creature the good news of salvation.

·            To cover with prayer the field of the shared Faith.

*    To do the mission of Christ, one should have the mind of Christ.  We are going to reproduce Christ in those that open their heart to the Savior, and for it we must be a copy of him.  The goal is to reproduce Christ in them, not ourselves.

 *  God is more interested in your availability that in your ability.  You do not need to be a great preacher or speaker to do the work of an evangelist.  But, yes, you do need to prepare yourself in the Word of God taking into account the necessary weapons to attract souls at the feet of

Jesus.  Therefore, evangelism is to proclaim the good news of salvation to men and women looking for their conversion to Christ, and their incorporation to the Body of Christ, becoming citizens of the Kingdom of God and of the reign of love, justice and mercy.  The goal of evangelism is the new Kingdom of God inaugurated and incarnated in Jesus.

We can define EVANGELISM as:

The profit or rising of personal commitments for Christ, through the preaching of the gospel, establishing spiritual, physical, and social aid upon the needy and toward the poor.  Evangelize means: to announce good news to those that do not know Christ or to those that considered Him once but did not have a personal commitment.       The world is full of bad news, catastrophes, deaths and robberies.  But the gospel is full of God’s salvation to all those who believe in Him.  It is the power of God manifested.  This is the good news that in JESUS there is LIFE, and life in abundance.         He who preaches the gospel must be conscious of the type of message that is being delivered, believing blindly in it and having a personal conviction in the person of our Master Jesus Christ.  No one can speak of what they have not experienced.  One cannot be speak about someone unless one has a relationship with that person.

Euangelion  - Gospel

Any of the four biblical narratives that cover the life and death of Jesus are contained in the gospels.  These are: Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, and they are found at the beginning of the New Testament making up almost the half of the total text.  The word gospel itself comes from the Greek: euangelion "good news" or "good story".  2 Timothy 4:5 says: “Do the work of the evangelist".  The evangelist is the one who carries good news and divine truths, a herald.  1 Timothy 2:7

(Translated from Latin: evangelium. Good God + spoken story)

1: the message regarding Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation.  2: one of the first four books of the New Testament that speak of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus; 3: the message or the teachings of a religious teacher (in this case JESUS) 4: Something accepted like infallible truth or as a guider principle.

Besides: the application of Christian principles to social problems.

The Gospels

The synoptic Gospels (Mathew, Mark and Luke) and almost all the book of Acts just as t we have them today were originally written in Greek; however, the text of which they originally descend was translated of a Hebrew archetype.  This is to say that they are a Greek translation of the original Hebrew history of the life of Jesus.

The key to understanding the New Testament is to know the Hebrew and to relate it to the Jewish history, its culture and the rabbinical Literature.  Many literalisms and language forms are found in the gospels and the lack of knowledge of recognizing these Hebraisms has caused a great deal of difficulty in the interpretation and comprehension of many of the sayings of Jesus.  Also, knowing the original key Greek words and phrases  (old Greek) will open our understanding.

Regarding to the propagation of the Gospel (basic definitions)

“…And this gospel of the kingdom (1) shall be preached (2) in all the world for a witness (3) unto all nations; and then shall the end come…”

   (Matthew 24:14)

1)         Kingdom:  from the Greek root Basiléias:  royalty, government, the kingdom and the Reign.   The main base of Power of a King’s government.

2)         Preach:  from the Greek root Keriusso: To announce (an official of the town that does public proclamations) specifically the divine truth (the Gospel).  Preach means: To proclaim and to publish.     2 Timothy 4:2  “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.”

3)         Testimony:  from the Greek root martirion.  It comes from the word witness or martyr.  A testimony is something that is given in evidence.  It is the given evidence (proof) to be testified.  A solemn public statement generally made orally by a witness.  The testimony is an open recognition of a religious experience.  From the Hebrew uwd (ud) it is a primary root that means testify: to protest, to notify in order to restore and to alleviate. It is to admonish, to do a call.

How can we be witnesses or how can we show some

vital evidence of God in our life, if we do not know of whom

that saved us and released us, about His Kingdom and His

 plan of salvation?

Subsequently we will analyze and we will study these truths, in

 order to share them efficiently.
